NYLAS VS AGENTMAIL · UPDATED OCTOBER 2026

Nylas vs AgentMail: the best AgentMail alternative for AI agent email and calendar in 2026

Nylas Agent Accounts and AgentMail both give an AI agent its own inbox through an API. Nylas adds a generally available calendar, Scheduler booking pages, and the same API used for connected Gmail and Outlook accounts. AgentMail’s calendar is in beta, and it adds WebSockets and a wider list of documented agent integrations.

A generally available calendar on every Agent Account, with Scheduler booking pages SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001 and ISO 27701, with a pre-signed HIPAA BAA on paid plans 200 emails per day per account on the free plan; no daily cap on paid plans The same API reaches your users’ own Gmail and Outlook accounts

Why teams look for an AgentMail alternative

Teams usually look beyond AgentMail for three reasons: calendar maturity, compliance coverage and daily send limits.

Calendar is still in beta

AgentMail’s docs say calendar is in AgentMail Labs. An organization admin turns it on, and it runs in US production only, not yet in EU production. Every Nylas Agent Account ships with a primary calendar that sends invitations and records RSVPs, and Scheduler works with Agent Accounts. Compliance coverage

AgentMail says it completed its first SOC 2 Type II audit in 2025 and that its 2026 audit is underway with A-LIGN. Its SOC 2, pricing and enterprise pages list no ISO certification or HIPAA support. Nylas holds SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001 and ISO 27701, and offers a pre-signed HIPAA BAA on all paid plans, on request. Sources: agentmail.to/legal/soc2, nylas.com/security

Daily send limits on paid plans

AgentMail’s pricing lists 1,000 emails per day on Developer and 15,000 per day on Startup. Nylas Essentials, Pro and Enterprise set no per-account daily send cap. Sources: agentmail.to/pricing, Nylas Agent Account limits docs

AgentMail alternative for connected accounts

Agent inboxes and your users’ mailboxes on one API

AgentMail gives agents their own inboxes. Nylas does too, and the same API connects your users’ own Gmail, Outlook and other accounts, so an agent can work from its own address and from the mailboxes it’s been given access to.

product-page-email-logos-hero
  • Agent Accounts on your domain Create an inbox and calendar for an agent with one API call, the CLI or the Dashboard.
  • Connected user mailboxes Reach users’ Gmail, Microsoft 365, Yahoo, iCloud, IMAP and Exchange accounts through the same integration.
  • One grant model Agent Accounts and connected accounts are both grants, so the same calls work on either.
  • One vendor to review Add agent inboxes on the platform and pricing page you already use, with no second security review.
Real-time webhooks

Webhooks for every message, event and booking

One webhook subscription covers every Agent Account and connected account, so your agent reacts to new mail, calendar changes and bookings without polling.

Signed notifications

Every webhook is signed with HMAC-SHA256 so you can confirm it came from Nylas.

Data in the payload

Notifications include the changed object, so most changes need no follow-up API call.

One subscription for every account

A single endpoint receives changes from agent inboxes and connected accounts alike.

Configurable triggers

Subscribe only to the message, folder, event, booking and deliverability changes your agent needs.

What Nylas covers that AgentMail doesn’t

Three capabilities have no generally available equivalent on the AgentMail side.

Calendar and Scheduler, available now

Agent Account calendars are generally available, send invitations, record RSVPs and answer free/busy queries. Scheduler booking pages run on an Agent Account’s primary calendar, with all four meeting types including round-robin.

Rules and an audit trail

Outbound rules can block a send before it leaves Nylas, so a blocked message is never delivered. A rule audit log records each evaluation, including which rules matched and what actions ran. Included on Essentials and above.

Connected accounts

The same API that runs your agents’ inboxes reaches your users’ own Gmail and Outlook accounts. AgentMail gives agents their own inboxes only.

Pricing comparison

Both price by agent inbox and monthly email volume, and both offer a free plan.

Worked example

A team running 50 agent inboxes and sending 20,000 emails a month pays $49 a month on Nylas Pro ($43 billed annually), which includes 50 accounts and 50,000 emails. On AgentMail’s published add-on rates, the same team pays about $120 a month: Developer at $20, 40 extra inboxes at $2 each, and 10,000 extra emails at $2 per 1,000. AgentMail’s Startup plan, at $200 a month, also covers it.

At 10 inboxes, Nylas Essentials ($15) costs less than AgentMail Developer ($20).

Frequently asked questions

Need more help? Let’s talk!

Choose Nylas if your agent needs a calendar, Scheduler booking pages, access to users’ own mailboxes, or ISO and HIPAA coverage. Choose AgentMail if your agent only needs email and you want WebSockets or its documented agent integrations.

Yes, in beta. As of October 2026, AgentMail’s docs say calendar is in AgentMail Labs, runs in US production only, and must be turned on by an organization admin. Nylas Agent Account calendars are generally available.

Yes. A Nylas Agent Account sends and receives email and has a generally available calendar that sends invitations, records RSVPs and works with Scheduler booking pages. AgentMail’s calendar is in beta in AgentMail Labs, in US production only.

AgentMail says it completed its first SOC 2 Type II audit in 2025 and that its 2026 audit is underway with A-LIGN. Its SOC 2, pricing and enterprise pages list no HIPAA support or BAA, so confirm with AgentMail before sending health data. Nylas holds SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001 and ISO 27701, provides a HIPAA report under NDA, and offers a pre-signed HIPAA BAA on all paid plans, on request.

Both start free with 3 inboxes and 3,000 emails per month. Nylas Free allows 200 emails per day per account, and AgentMail Free allows 100. Nylas Essentials is $15 a month for 10 agent accounts, AgentMail Developer is $20 for 10 inboxes, and Nylas Pro is $49 a month for 50 accounts. Pricing checked October 14, 2026.

Both offer relevance-ranked full-text search. Nylas Agent Account search covers subject, participants, body and attachment filenames, but not attachment contents. AgentMail’s docs say semantic search needs your own vector store.

AgentMail and Nylas Agent Accounts give an agent its own inbox through an API, with no user’s Google account involved. The Gmail API works inside an existing Google account. Nylas can also connect a user’s Gmail account through the same API, so one integration covers both.

Nylas offers US (Iowa) and Europe (London) regions on every plan. AgentMail offers an EU region on Enterprise, and its calendar is not yet in EU production.

When your agent only needs email and you want WebSockets or AgentMail’s documented integrations for tools like Replit, Vercel, Grok and Google ADK. Enterprise buyers can also ask for SSO, bring-your-own-cloud deployment, dedicated IPs and 24-hour message expiry.

Yes. Create Agent Accounts on a domain you control, move DNS for any custom domain, and rewrite your calls against the Nylas API. Labels map to folders and rules, and webhooks map to Nylas notifications. Export any message history you want to keep before you switch.

Conclusion

Nylas and AgentMail both give an agent a real inbox with full-text search and reply extraction. Nylas adds a generally available calendar, Scheduler booking pages, connected user accounts and broader certifications. AgentMail adds WebSockets, more documented integrations and Enterprise deployment options.

Choose Nylas if your agent schedules meetings, works with users’ own mailboxes, or needs ISO 27001, ISO 27701 or a HIPAA BAA, or if you already build on Nylas.

Choose AgentMail if your agent only needs email, you want WebSockets, or you work in an agent stack AgentMail documents, such as Replit, Vercel or Grok.
